Background

Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Chemistry with a concentration in Petroleum Engineering from the American University of Nigeria. He earned a Master of Science in Water and Wastewater Engineering from ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ, where his thesis investigated the integration of anaerobic wastewater treatment with low-cost technologies for resource recovery in developing countries.

During his MSc programme, Eric also contributed to a multidisciplinary group project focused on optimising biogas production and enhancing nitrogen and phosphorus recovery from anaerobic digesters treating manure.

Currently, Eric is a researcher at the ³ÉÈ˶¶Òõ Water Science Institute (CWSI), where he works on projects funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and TotalEnergies. His research centres on the feasibility of recovering valuable resources from waste streams, supporting sustainable practices within the circular economy framework.

Eric’s professional interests lie in the application of scientific and engineering principles to develop practical, sustainable solutions for resource recovery and waste valorisation.

Research opportunities

Resource Recovery from Waste Streams – Exploring innovative and cost-effective methods to extract energy, nutrients, and other valuable products from wastewater and organic waste.

Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment – Investigating the use of anaerobic processes for sustainable treatment and biogas production, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Circular Economy in Water and Sanitation – Developing integrated engineering solutions that support closed-loop systems and sustainable resource use in water and sanitation infrastructure.

Current activities

Eric’s research aims to develop novel technologies for resource recovery from waste streams.
